muffintop-less:

Hypothetical situation:
Let’s say we have two twins, both are 21 year old females, 5’4” 120 pounds. One has 10% body fat (or 110 pounds of muscle) and the other has 20% body fat (or 100 pounds of muscle). Who do you think will burn more calories if they both do exactly the same activities all day long? These activities include showering, eating, working out, going to class, reading a magazine, watching tv and sleeping.
If you guessed the twin with more muscle, you guessed correctly! The more lean muscle mass you have on your frame, the higher your metabolic rate and the more calories you burn in a day, JUST BY BEING ALIVE! That is why it is so important to build a STRONG FOUNDATION of muscle!! So many girls mistakenly believe they should “lose the weight first, THEN tone up”… but that is completely backwards! What happens is you simply shrink in size, but your body composition does not change.. meaning your metabolism will slow and you will be back to square one in regards to fat loss! You will simply wind up ‘skinny fat’. The trick is to focus on building muscle first, then work on ‘cutting down’ through proper nutrition, continued weight lifting and HIIT cardio! (Do NOT overdo the cardio or you will waste away precious muscle!)

Well said. Finally singing my tune. THANK YOU. Focus on strength, with the big lifts NOT curls, & the fat WILL melt off.

Tumblr peeps DO NOT do your push-ups like this. Notice the elbows flair out. Keep your elbows close to your body. YES they harder. Yes, you wont be able to do as many at first but as you get stronger and do more of them your shoulders will thank you. The shoulder is naturally an unstable joint so do exercises that protect them.

THESE KB’s are “competition grade” KB’s. Whats the difference? Notice how you can’t tell which one is heavier. With the “hard style” type KB you can tell immediately which one’s are heavier.

Who say’s girls can’t do good push-ups?

This version of the push-up is an advanced exercise for most. Jen makes it look easy. Again, if your push-ups don’t look like Jen’ in this video DO NOT do them on a medicine ball.

Jen Grasso demonstrates the Band Single Leg Reverse Hyper.

Not one of my favorites as the band frequently rides up your leg which is a pain in the ass. BUTT (pun intended) its a great warm up exercise.

Jen demonstrates the Single-Leg Elevated Glue Bridge.

If you want a shapely & strong A$$ then incorporate this exercise in to your routine.

Jen Grasso demonstrates a single leg barbell squat. A great exercise for toning and building up your A$$.
